    Date range to calendar

    Hello,

I have some set values that I am pulling over from a web based program that is very limited. I am trying to make a Calendar from the set data so that I can have a quick reference from month to month. I have a picture below that shows how the data is from the website, copied and pasted to excel.

    excel.jpg

This is how it looks above. I was wondering if there's any way to make a very simple calendar to say Person 1 has these day(s) for vacation, Person 2 has these day(s), etc.... to be viewed and printed easy for quick reference by month instead of #'s like the picture.

    Thanks!

    Re: Date range to calendar

    You can try this:

The cells in Blue in column A are the list data for the 2 DV dropdows in C2 and C3 (Green) (you can hide Column A if you wish)
the cells in yellow are the days that match the holiday range in column D

    Hope this helps

    Edit-
NOTE- the dates in holiday list must stay in the same format, I did not build in any checking for this, so if the format or spacing changes, errors will pop up..

A picture may be worth a thousand words, BUT, a sample Workbook is worth a thousand screenshots!

    Hi dredwolf,

    It is doing this:

    excel1.jpg

I tried playing with the dates and it wasn't showing up as blocked days.

    Re: Date range to calendar

I can't do much with a screenshot...I tackled this on the first one because it looked pretty simple, you have a string range of dates, break the string and make them values... without seeing your formatting, how the date ranges are figured, what kind of formatting (AND I MEAN see it in an actual workbook where we can manipulate it) there isn't much more I can do, which is what bebo was getting at from the start...give us something to work with...read my signature for further clarification

    Edit-
After breaking out my reading Mag (that pic is SMALL), what it looks like is you have forgotten a $ or 2 on the references...some references are locked to specific cells, some to rows, some to columns...if the dollar sign is left out, they are no longer referencing the proper data, thus the errors...just a guess tho, without the sheet, it's pretty much impossible to tell

    Re: Date range to calendar

Heres the best I got without seeing what you are ACTUALLY working with...any range problems are yours(all 4 of these work quite well with the SCREENSHOTs provided), first sheet is what I already uploaded, second is same, but allows some flexibility in the way the dates are are dealt with,3rd sheet and fourth both require some work on your part to get the "dates off" range to an acceptable format...BUT, they all do work, I have spent the time to create the WB, I'd appreciate it if YOU took the time to explore the options offered, Because if you come back with a "It does not work for me" post, with no example WORKBOOK of what doesn't work, I will just say goodbye and farewell

In the future I will remember to upload an example of my excel file I am working on. Sorry, it has private work information on, but I will make a secondary file for future reference. Thank you for your help.

    Re: Date range to calendar

    Ok dredwolf or anyone else,

I have uploaded the file in which I'd like you to see what I am trying to do. I hope this helps you out, if you can help me. I apologize earlier about the "screenshot" I have removed important information and the tabs on the file that I am looking at are specific to the Calendar tab, it has notes highlighted in Orange that I am looking to do. I hope this helps and thank you very much.

    Re: Date range to calendar

See if this works for you
Had to add helper columns in '2012'and 'Season 1' tabs to get the dates into a usable form, you can hide these if needed

    Hope this helps
