Talking Find unique names and count their status

    Hi Everybody!

I am trying to find a formula that will find the unique names in one column and count their status from another.

The file I have attached gives an example.

A has names. Some names are there multiple times. B has a status of "New". Ignoring any duplicates and blank cells, I want to count how many times there is a name that has a status of "New"

Example: Marry is listed four times, each time with a "New" status. This should be counted as 1.

I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

There is a little star ( ADD REPUTATION ) below those person who helped you. Click it to say your "PRIVATE APPRECIATION TO THEIR EFFORT ON THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS "

    Regards,

Re: Find unique names and count their status

EDIT: moving to new post as is a new (but related) problem requiring a different solution. Linking back to this post.

Hi, can this be done by:

    1. WITHOUT using array formula
    AND
    2. ONLY using formula, no menu sort or macro options

ie. columnn A has list of numbers, some occur more than once.
output to two new columns listing each unique number and how often it occurs in first column.

This could instead be names instead of numbers.

If I use countifs or frequency i would still get duplicated counts.

    MARY MARY 3
    JOHN JOHN 2
    JOHN JOE 1
    MARY
    JOE
