Text not found after pasting it with paste values

Hi, I hope I have explained this so that it can be understood, I apologise if I have not.
I have paste some information from sheet 1 into sheet 2, columns B to Z (text in some columns numbers in others but no mixed cells), sheet 1 contained the formulas so I pasted it as 'paste values' into sheet 2, but although I can see the text, when I type a name into another cell to search for an item and return the vale in an adjacent cell, it will not find it. if I retype the name that was 'paste as value', it will recognise it. any ideas please.

    Regards.

Re: Text not found after pasting it with paste values

this can often occur if there are spaces before / after the text.

Try either checking for spaces and deleting them, or adding a wildcard to your search (eg if searching for the word John, try John* or *John* in the search. This will return any values that START WITH John, or CONTAIN John respectively.

The hidden space is a searches arch enemy ;-)
