darker shades in a row with multiple color cells

Hey all, I've done a search for this being answered before, but have had no luck.

I've got a worksheet with each column in either grey or white for readability. There are certain rows in this sheet that I want to be a shade darker, but retain the same color scheme (i.e. the white columns would be light light grey, and the grey columns would be a shade darker grey).

Is there a way to do this by highlighting the cells, and selecting something to make them a shade darker, say 20 or 25% darker, yet retain the color 'family' if the column?

    Thanks,

    FlynHokie

Nothing I know of from a typical formatting setting; however, if this is a 'one-time' kind of thing, then you could create a black rectangle shape, set it to have no border and a relatively high transparency (85%?). This would darken the rows and it would generally shift up and down as rows are added and removed. It has its annoyances though, such as trying to select a cell underneath the shape...

(or you just ignore the shape and hand format each row, which I know is what you were trying to avoid)

If the 'certain rows' contain 'certain text' it is possible.
The certain text in this file is "test" in column A
