Red face Query regarding sorting data into two categories

Hello All i have inhherited (apparently i volunteered) a complex spreadsheet reporting metrics of test yield results. I have now been asked to seperate the metrics from one report into two reports Pumps and Valves.

I could add a column with a drop down list with the two options "Pumps and Valves" but i am unsure how to write what i guess would be a VLOOKUP formula to seperate the two results?

I guess it would then be best to create seperate worksheets for the two items?

Is anybody able to help me out please?

Please upload a sample of your file so that your query can be fully understood. It's not very clear atm.

How is the data set up? What's the indicator that something is a valve or a pump?

If you have to separate the results, a drop down list that you have to fill manually could be time-consuming. But the idea seems okay since you'll then be able to apply a filter and then perhaps copy/paste the data into 2 separated tables/files

Hi dourpil, thanks for your reply. Please find attached the spreadsheet. I might even be possible to collect the data in an easier way but my Excel knowledge is limitied. I have added teh column Part Type with the drop down list to indicate a "Pump" or "Valve".

I have had to delete some data to reduce the size which has caused some reference errors.

Re: Query regarding sorting data into two categories

Hello Phil, i have had to add some columns to the spreadsheet and am struggling to see how I increase the copy function to include the additional columns on to the virtual spreadsheets. Are you able to help? Also when the "Split Results" macro is run the P & M and V & S sheets show a "#REF" error, due to the sheets not seeing the virtual spreadsheets.
    Regards
    Steve

Hello, when click on the "Split Results" macro button the P & M and V & S sheets show a "#REF" error, due to the sheets not seeing the two virtual spreadsheets "Pump & Motor" and Valve & Storage". Are you able to help with this problem?

    Thanks in advance
