What does the "Use Pattern Matching" option do in Find/Replace of the VBA editor?

    What does the "Use Pattern Matching" option do in Find/Replace of the VBA editor?

    There's a picture attached with a red arrow showing the option I'm curious about. (The easiest way to get there is to press Alt+F11, then Ctrl+F) I'm using Excel 2010.
