    Shipment tracker spreadsheet help

    Hello All,

I work for a logistics company in Florida. We handle over the road truck load shipments (semi trucks) and we have to track all of our loads daily for our customers. Currently we have a spreadsheet with a list of the shipment ID's and we highlight them in blue, red, green, and yellow according to the status of the shipment. For updates or notes we just add a comment to the cell and keep track that way. What I would like to do is set up a spreadsheet so I could click on the cell that shows the shipment ID and it would open up a "load sheet" that I could put together showing the details of each load. And I could link that load sheet to multiple cells on the list of shipment ID's. Below I have pasted an example of what the list looks like on our computer. If you look on the far right screen that is the spreadsheet we are currently using. I know it's google docs but we are going to transfer to excel as soon as we can figure out this solution. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Re: Shipment tracker spreadsheet help

What I would like help with is:
Can I set up so I click on a cell and it opens up a sheet, or window that I can put the load information in?
If so, how would I go about doing that?

I would like the main screen of the spreadsheet to look like the one I attached BUT instead of using individual comment boxes on each load ID and cluttering up the page, I would rather be able to click on the load ID and be directed to a page where I can set up a template and fill out more detailed information about each load.

Yes, you can do that and the other things by using a worksheet event, but you will need to use some vba. Would you be comfortable with that?
If you like I can set up an example to get you started. If you want that, please upload (a piece of) your workbook for me to have some data to use.

Here's a very very simple example with a userform popping up when you click any cell in column A.
