Excel template

I have a couple of questions actually. First the template, which I saved as macro enabled. I am running 2007 version. I put the template in My Templates to access it after activating the macro: ctrl+J. I am confused on where to save the template so I can update it from time to time and still keep a copy of it in My Templates in Excel to be able to activate it from the macro.
Also, after I set the macro up, it works the first time and then after shutting excel down it no longer works.

Any ideas would be very much appreciated, thanks
