Conditional Formatting Question

I'm using Excel Conditional Formatting to help identify duplicate numbers in two columns of data. Since my rows will be somewhere around 1000 in length, it would be great if I could somehow pull just the exceptions (or rather, delete the matches/duplicates and just leave the non-duplicate exceptions). Is that possible in Excel?

    TIA

    Re: Conditional Formatting Question

    Hi, welcome to the forum

Will the duplicate numbers be next to each other in the 2 columns, or could they be scattered throughout your data in both columns, randomly?
(and chance of some sample data?)
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

    Re: Conditional Formatting Question

I'll try to get a screenshot but it's pretty much columns A and C. Sometimes the numbers will be together in the same row but usually not. Conditional formatting identifies the like numbers from each column and it would be great to just be able to press my delete key for those like numbers but understand it's not that easy since they're truly not 'highlighted'. I wondered though if there was a way to otherwise delete those like numbers that are red tinted (first color offered in conditional formatting) leaving only the unique numbers from each column.

    Re: Conditional Formatting Question

A sample spreadsheet file tends to clarify immensely. Screen shots.....not so much.

    Re: Conditional Formatting Question

Have you tried to use excel's built- "remove duplicates" function? SAVE your workbook 1st, so if it messes up, you can recover it (just in case undo fails)
