Countif And or Vlookup And help

Hi Guys, I thought this would be simple but alas......

I am trying to wrestle with a formula for Sheet1 D2:D69 which tests to see if the party ID in Sheet1 Col A appears in Sheet2 col A and if so are either of the dates in Sheet1 Cols B:C greater or less than the Date in Sheet2 Col B.

If the date in Sheet2 Col B is less than the dates in Sheet1 Col B:C formula should return "Existing" and if not "New"

    Hope this makes sense.

    Hi.

You say "If the date in Sheet2 Col B is less than the dates in Sheet1 Col B:C formula should return "Existing" and if not "New"".

Can you just clarify whether this means that the Sheet2 date has to be less than both the date in Sheet1 column B and that in Sheet1 column C in order to return "Existing"? Or is it sufficient that it is just less than one of these two?

    Regards

Hiya! thanks for your response and sorry that I wasn't clear.

Yes. The Sheet2 date has to be less than both the Sheet1 dates to return "Existing".

Once again, many thanks for looking

You can try this formular in Sheet 1 Cell D2

    =IF(VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet2!A:B,2,FALSE)<B2,"existing","new")
