Question 3 Colour Scale Conditional Formatting by Formula Type

    Hi All,

I am trying to use a 3 colour scale for my sales value using conditional formatting, however all of them appear as the same colour.
Please see attached - I am trying to change the colours based on the values in column C.

    ConditionalFormatting_3Colour.xlsx

Can I also ask, is there a way to define the colour scales based on the level (see column A) - if level 1, sales above 150 should be in red while for level 2, sales above 100 should already be red.

    Thanks All!

are you after a graduated effect
if so whats the range you are looking to apply the graduation to
    OR
do you just want a RAG status (3 colours ) ?

Using your example, select the 3 cells C2:C4, click on Conditional Formatting, Color Scales, choose one of the choices available.

To change the colours, enter Conditional Formatting, Manage Rules, locate the rule (either current selection if still selected or workbook). Select the rule, click edit and change the rule according to what you want. You can change 2 color to 3 color and change those colors to be what you want.

Hi, I am trying to apply the graduation effect, I don't really understand using formula types for colour scales - doesn't work as I intend.

    Thanks,

I have not seen a graduated vertical scale that would match what I think you want except what I have found in this example. Here is an example workbook with color scales used over many values. It appears to assign the upper and lower values vertically. Unlike your single column of values this example as several columns of values.

This is a worksheet from a workbook by Excelisfun on YouTube.

Thanks, what if I don't use the graduation effect - how do I use the "formula type" to change colour?
