Smile Table Seating Plan for Wedding

    Hi all,

I am trying to work out a table plan for my daughter wedding. In column A I have the table number (1-12), column B the guests names and C the guests partners names, and where necessary, D 1st child, E second child, F 3rd child . I have populated column A with the table I think suits for each family but I would like now to produce a graphical view if each table, bit like a pie chart I guess for each table showing each guests/childs name so we can see how it all fits together. Anyone have a (relatively) simple way of doing this?

I'm sure your aware the pressure will be on me so any help would be much appreciated :-)

    Regards Phil

    Re: Table plan.

    Hi philde

If you using Excel 2007 and up version I would suggest to use SmartArt. You can get there by clicking on Insert, and select SmartArt icon, then click on Cycle and choose shape the one that you think is more appropriate. I would suggest use second from the top row. There you can easily add names.

    Re: Table plan.

Your question doesn't seem to be an Excel problem but you may get more traffic to your question if your change your title to something better descriptive of your problem. Table Plan doesn't mean much. It appears to be a problem with an Excel table which it clearly isn't.

You could use Pie chards representing each table. I have only made up 1 table but it should give you an idea of what I am thinking.

    Re: Table plan.

    I see the thinking.

Currently the data is arrange with one family per row with up to three children:

    Table Guest Partner Child1 Child2 Child3
    3 Aimee Danny Ben Holly
    12 Andrew John Jane
    11 Anna Matthew
    6 Bradley Kirsty Jake
3 Carly Adi David Mary John

For the SmartArt is there anyway of auto populating the text fields based on table number and for a pie chart is these any way of selecting the whole family based on table number?
Max number at any table will be 12 which may be made up of up to 6 families depending upon children/not etc.

Probably expecting a bit much but appreciate any help/advice (even if it's give up, do it manually :-) ).

    Phil

It appears that SmartArt cannot be populated by the contents of worksheet cells.

Just like other objects such as Pictures and Shapes, SmatArts can be populated by VBA.
