Exclamation Change cell color based on cell value

    Hello everyone,

I would like to seek your kind assistance. I've been tasked to do a duty planning roster that runs on the point system and it has to be macro-enabled whereby
the cell color will change according to the value.
    IE:
1A = <- this will be 2 points (duty on Saturday)
1S = <- this will be 1 point (duty on Sunday)
It will be tagged to the Monday - Friday and Saturday and Sunday column to enable easier calculation for the total points system.

Please assist. I can elaborate more or even upload a template.

Thank you for your time in advance.

You can use Conditional Formatting to do this. But... I don't understand your explanaton. maybe upload an Excel sheet - showing what you have and what you want... Remember to remove ALL confidential information first!!!

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

Re: Change cell color based on cell value

    Well long story short,

I've been tasked to do a duty planning roster that runs on the point system and it has to be macro-enabled whereby
the cell color will change according to the value.
    IE:
1A = <- this will be 2 points (duty on Saturday)
1S = <- this will be 1 point (duty on Sunday)
It will be tagged to the Monday - Friday and Saturday and Sunday column to enable easier calculation for the total points system.

So according to what that I've mentioned earlier, this final sheet should be able to calculate the points in the sheet by color. IE: If I were to input a box as red, it will automatically do a +1 to the total points in the sheet. of course if it happens to fall on a weekend, the correct points will be added instead of the +1, which would mean a +2 if it falls on a weekend.
I hope I have explained what I need because to be frank I dont really know how am I actually going to put this into actual words.

Your thread title is: "Change cell color based on cell value "; but from your description, it sounds like you REALLY mean: "Change cell value based on cell colour" - is that what you want? If so, you almost certainly will require a VBA solution.

Yes, and that is just one part of the sheet that is required. The other part would be, for any box within the 'duty roster', it requires an automatic change of color based on cell value. IE: If i were to put a red, it would do a +1 to the total points of the system. Whereas if I input a 2, it will automatically change the color to the necessary one. Just an example.

Though I'm not sure is it a myth, but I've ever heard of an excel sheet auto generating an entire duty roster for monthly basis based on the points system. Just you know, clarifying whether is it true?
