    Weekly Word Count Goal

I have attached my workbook to this post, so you can look at it. I keep track of how many words I write for my novel, I have my overall goal for the story and one for the week. Base on the start date and end dates, for both goals, it tells me how many words I need to write to accomplish the goal on time. Off to the right of this information I have two pie charts one for my overall goal, and one for the weekly goal. They slowly become unfilled as I get closer to my goal.
I use the same set up for both weekly and overall goals, which makes my weekly pie with only about a quarter left until it is gone. I don't want this, I want it to be full from the begining. To do this I need to be able to put exactly how many words I want for the week. Example Right now, I put 17000 as my overall words for the week, and I have 13000. Leaving me 4000 left to my weekly goal. This is why my pie is mostly empty. Instead I want to put in 4000 for my goal, but not sure the formulas I would need to do. Please check the workbook, to see what I mean. Any help would be great.

    Thanks

    Tim

P.S. I know by changing my world tally range would do this, but I don't want to have to go in and change that every week. I want it based on the dates I put in the dates at the top.

I don't understand how you want the pie for the week to look, or exactly what your question is.

Your goal for the week is 17,000, and you have written 13,000 with 4,000 left to go. Sounds to me like your pie should be mostly empty, since the pie represents words to go. If you always use the words remaining for that week as the goal, then your pie will always be totally full.

Are you really asking how to calculate the weekly figures (J10, N10) automatically based on the daily figures that you enter below? But the numbers should still be the same and therefore the pie will look the same.

    Re: Weekly Word Count Goal

17000 Thousand is only the goal because I want to write 4000 word for the week. Based on how I have it setup, it takes what I already have written and subtracts it from my goal of 17000, which is why my pie is always nearly gone. Last night I thought more about what I am looking for.

I need Words Tally in N10 to be a look up for the date in H6 and find the same date in column D then jump over two cells and add that cell and the six cell below it. I hope that makes since.

There is no rule 14. It stops at 13.C. Was I supposed to change the name of the thread?
