Looking for conformation re conditional format issue

If I apply conditional formatting to say cells A6:A20 then that works ok.
But as I have 20 columns it would be easier to do all 20 at once by highlighting them.
However it is every other column that I need to do.
    Example:
    A6:A20
    C6:C20
    E6:E20

When I highlight the 3 columns cells 6:20 the conditional formatting doesnt work.

Would this be correct or am I doing something wrong?

    thanks

In the meantime I have managed to find a quick method by using format painter. I wasnt aware I could use this as a copy/paste function.

Re: Looking for conformation re conditional format issue

The rule i am using for
=a8:a25<$W$27 format to white text. This works ok.

My question was if I could CF all at once the same for say columns C,E,G,I,K etc. so that I didnt have to CF each column seperately.

I solved it by using format painter to copy/paste which speeded things along.

Select E6:K23 and go to Conditional Formatting, New Rule, use Formula.... and enter this formula

Re: Looking for conformation re conditional format issue

If your real data occupies the same columns and follows the same pattern, select the data that you want to apply the formatting to and enter the formula and it should work. Your example has two columns together K and L that interrupts the pattern and the formatting will not cross that properly.

Re: Looking for conformation re conditional format issue

The real data is every other column so I should be ok, but thanks for spotting that and giving a correction

Can I ask though (assuming you know the answer) why my excel uploads have not worked for other users yet you appear to have got them working. is it something I have done incorrectly when posting?

Re: Looking for conformation re conditional format issue

I had edited the response and removed the formula but here it is again if required. If the Conditional formatting is applied to the wrong column, change the =0 to =1.

    Formula: copy to clipboard

As for the problem with uploaded files. I have noticed that some people have reported problems such as you mention. I think that this is a problem with the site or possibly the security settings of the downloader. If you successfully upload your intended file then, you have done it correctly.

I can't give you a definitive answer as to why as there are many possibilities.

PNG files are a problem for people using Internet Explorer. I am one of those.

Good luck with your real data.
