    Pivot Filtering by Date

    Hi,
I have a worksheet with a number of columns. two of these are dates and are formatted the same (as far as im aware).
I want to make pivot tables with other columns fields following on from these dates, so I created 1 pivot for Completion Due date and another for Completion Date, but when I try to filter by date, i can only do it by 'date' on the Completion Due Date field and 'value' on the Completion Date field.
I want them both to be filterable by date.
Do you know why i am unable to filter one by date when i can the other?

    TIA

    Re: Pivot Filtering by Date

Are both columns with dates real dates or text looking like dates?

Try selection your" completion date" range - Click the Data tab - Text to columns and click " Finish"

Now refresh the PT and see if it helps

PS Formats are only what XL shows you. It's the values " behind the scene" that really matter .

    Re: Pivot Filtering by Date

Sorry about the cross posting. I thought it may yield results quicker. I'll do as above next time and include links etc. My apologies.

As for the issue, i cannot do Text to column as it over-rights data other columns. Also, the column populates a date based on this formula =IF([@[Completion Date]]="","",INT([@[Completion Date]])) and so outputs this instead of the date on nearby columns when doing text-to-column. Is this the reason for it seeing it as a value and not a date maybe?
The Completion Due Date column has this formula =INT([@[Completion Due Date]]) but is recognised by the pivot as dates so can be filtered by date.
