Hello. I'm learning powerpivot but what's the difference between manipulating data in SQL vs. doing it in Excel? It almost seems like if you're good enough at SQL it reduces the need for powerpivot? Have I hit the head on the naiL?

Hey stephme55,
If you use Access and build queries using Access, you can view the SQL that duplicates the Access query. See if it is easier to learn SQL language or Access query builder model.
Read this site:
http://www.fontstuff.com/access/acctut14.htm
and then "Do I need to know SQL" section towards the bottom.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

Hi Marvin. Thanks for the response. My question was more related to if it's redundant to use powerpivot if you know SQL, because it seems like you get data from a database and then you are sort of putting it another database (powerpivot). Might as well just do all the manipulations with SQL/Access and then export into regular excel.
