Shared document - name user, not author

I have a shared document on a local server. The only way we can all amend currently is if one user is to use at any one time...
This is ok but SOME people forget to save and close...

When a second user attempts to open the file they get the error "document is locked for editing by 'Thomas' " this is because Thomas is the document author, is there any way it could actually let us know who has the document open? the current method involved interrogating every computer in the room to see who has forgotten to close...

any help would be MUCH appreciated!!

you need to enable macros on all computers
create a sheet in your book, name it "l" and hide it
this code copy to workbook module
