    Excel 2010 IF

Good morning.... First time on Excel Forum. I'm hoping to get some assistance on an Excel task I'm working on.

I have a Excel 2010 spreadsheet that lists out two type of food categories. If 'bakery' or 'prep foods' are listed anywhere in column A, I want the contents of column B thru G to automatically populate in column I thru N. I have several categories but I'm confident if I can get help moving one, I can get the others to move to their respective column.. Easy? I hope so!!

I've added an image that should help us.

    Thanks!

    Re: Excel 2010 IF

i would use a pivot table and filter the results
Much easier to update and change

    see what you think,

you could have mutliple pivot tables across the sheet if needed

or use an extraction to pull across the data
i just find pivot tables easy to manipulate this sort of data

I like this. I've never used pivot tables before. It will be a good learning opportunity. One question tho... How do I enter in new receipts?

    Re: Excel 2010 IF

the thing to do is have a wider range for your source data

The as you enter new data - you can refresh the pivot table , and everything will update

i have gone to sheet three
    click on the pivot table
    Analysis from the ribbon
    then change data source
    change from
    Sheet1!$A$3:$G$10
    to
    Sheet1!$A$3:$G$1000

now when you add any new information up to row 1000
you then click on the pivot table
from the ribbon > analysis > refresh

now the new data appears in the pivot table
