its quiet easy just create a unique reference and then vlookup that reference. I have attached a working example for you. what you could do is hide column A if you do not wish to view it. I created a complicated IF/ISERROR/VLOOKUP formula so that it would display a '-' instead of #N/A

    Hope this solves your problem.

    I'm alright thanks.

Glad it helped you a bit.

Am I correct in saying that you have this list on another sheet and you want other sheets to pick up the values from the sheet with your list. Do you know how to create a named range? If so create one and replace the part in my example formula where it says 'List' change it to your named range. You can also hide the sheet if you dont want your users to see it.

I have attached a copy to help you understand what I mean.

All I did was create a new page
then cut the list from the other page
and then pasted it onth new sheet.
then renamed the sheet to 'Vlookup' which you do not have to worry about.
