Red face new to exel question :)

hi i have used ms exell for basice stuff for years but i now have some more adventuous ambitions and would love some help

i am working on a spredsheet that has my hourly time table for the week
and a columb for the length of each meating, ie usualy .5(1/2 an hour) or 1
then thers a columb for the $ value of each meating
these total at the bottom to give dayly weekly tax valer average hourly rate etc

i want to use the sheet as a quick view diary, only problem is i dont always want the cash coulumbs abd rows to be in view,

i want to crate a button or veiw that on single click will hide and unhide all of these columbs and rows

    can any one help?

Record a macro and go through the motions of hiding the columns. Each time you run the macro it will replicate the motions you did during recording.

    Lightbulb

ok i havent used macros b4 but i have given it a go and am quite confused
ok hear is what i have done

    record a new macro
    then i hilighted columbs d,g,j,m,p,s,v,
    right click and hide
    then hilighted rows 34,35,36,37
    right click and hide
    then stop recording

    then i press ctrl (a)
but on repetitive presses it hides or delets diferent colums row and eventualy the whole work sheet
i want to make it so pessing ctrl (a) once hides the rows and columbs and then pressing it again switches bak to the view with the colums and rows un hidden

    any sugestions
    thanks

Another option, without using macros, would be to use Grouping.

Select the Rows you want to "hide". Click Data -> Group & Outline -> Group.
Select the Columns you want to "hide". Click Data -> Group & Outline -> Group.

Now you can use the +/- signs on the left and top of your sheet to hide/unhide those columns and rows.

I've never used the Grouping before - thats a handy tool.

Thanks for that wee nugget pjoaquin
