Copied worksheet, large size, slow loading

I have a model in Excel that I make changes to frequently. the data on several worksheets has been copied many (10+) times. Every time, the pages seem to get larger, and load more slowly. It's gotten to the point where excel crashes if I try to look at one of the sheets, even though there are at most 100 cells with data in them.
There is no VBA code associated with the particular worksheet.

As an experiment, I deleted the worksheet from the workbook, and to my surprise, one sheet was more than 800K, 30% of a 50+ sheet workbook! Most (if not all) of the other worksheets have much more on them, and do not have the slowness problem. It is specifically associated with the two or three pages that have been copied repeatedly.

What is there about copying data that causes such an increase in size, and how do I fix it?

Sometimes excel can get goofy about blank cells and copying them. To ensure that excel is only looking at the 100 cells as the size of the worksheet, do a Ctrl-End and delete out unnecessary rows and columns and save, and see if that helps with the loading of the sheets.

I see this happen alot when people copy filtered spreadsheets.

    Hope that helps...

    Cool

Hi and welcome to the forums

I wonder if you might have some "hidden data" that might be propogating down through the 64K of rows. On the blank row after your last row of "real" data you might try this:

    1. Highlight Row 101 if that's the 1st blank line
    2. Press and hold the CTRL + SHIFT keys down
    3. Press the down arrow
    4. All rows should be highlighted
    5. Right mouse and select delete (or you can use FILE >>> DELETE)

Likewise you can go your last column and delete across as well (Press the right arrow in step 3 to blank out all unused columns.

*** Make backups 1st before attempting this just in case.
