    Rounding

    Hi Guys

Hope someone can help, I'm not great with excel.
I want to write a formula which will round curencey values down to the next whole value if the figure ends in .25 or less and up if over .25.

    Examples -

    £3.25 would become £3
    £2.26 would become £3
    £1.20 would become £1
    £4.46 would become £4

    Anyway thanks for the help

    Good afternoon si666

    ...and welcome to the forum!!

Something like this would do the trick, assuming your numbers start in A1 and then copied down :

    =IF(A1-INT(A1)<=0.25,INT(A1),INT(A1+1))

    Much Easier

This is a FAR easier solution for you.

Highlight all of the cells you intend to put numbers in. Right click and then select "Format Cells" from the dialogue box that pops up. Select currency and then just set the number of decimal places to 0. Excel will round the numbers to the closest whole value. Enjoy.

What do you want to achieve?

    £3.25 would become £3
    £2.26 would become £3
    £1.20 would become £1
    £4.46 would become £4

why does 2.26 go to £3 buy £4.46 goes to £4

if it goes to £5 dominic's solution is fine, otherwise what do you want?

    Regards

Assuming £4.46 would round to £5 try

    =CEILING(A1-0.25,1)
