    vlookup will not work...

I work for a wholesale distributor, we use excel to upload price lists into our system, we use SAP.

Most times I have no problems with vlookup, I take sheet 1 to work with, it has the suppliers part numbers in column 1 and my cost in column 2, I then copy on sheet 2 my part number with the vendors part number, I will then on sheet one do a vlookup and 90% of the time it works.

When it does not, I try a copy past values, I try a clean and no matter what it does not work, I format general, text everything and it still don’t work, then one day I double clicked the number on sheet 1 column one and the numbers move from the left to the right and wam, vlookup puts in my part number, if I double click all of them they work, the only time it has no problems is when there are letters at the end.

    Can anyone help me?

You probably have a mix of number formats and text formats...or all text formats which don't match your lookup value formats.

select the column and go to Data|Text to Columns and click Finish...

if that doesn't work, then go again to Data|Text to Columns and skip to the 3rd window, select Text from the top right area and click Finish...
