I have a spreadsheet which pulls data from two other spreadsheets. Every time I open this, I get the "This workbook contains one or more links that cannot be updated error."
Very annoying.![]()
Updating skips past this and all works fine. Choosing edit links shows me that both links have an "OK" status, that the updates are automatic, and I have the startup prompt set to "Don't display the alert and update links".
So why does this keep popping up, and how can I get this to cease?![]()
Thanks!
For others having the same issue, here's what I found.
Though the edit links correctly showed the two worksheets being referenced correctly, and had the auto-update correctly set without asking for a prompt, there were some defined names that weren't valid not addressed by the EDIT LINKS control.
'Cntrl' + 'F3' brings up the defined names in the worksheet. I found several names here referencing worksheets that don't exist (I adapted my worksheet from a pre-existing worksheet). Deleting these solved my problem.![]()

WORKS LIKE A CHARM !!! IF you want the answer to a possible prolbem. The answer above was perfert form me. This file was copied from a server, and I couldn't believe the garbage on it. The keyboard shortcut showed me all.....and I was able to delete them all. This answer was so profound, I even saved it for future knowledge. Thank you !!!
