File name has ':1' at the end when open

I don't know why one of my excel file has that problem. The file name in the folder is normal but when I opened it, the name shown at the top panel is followed by :1. And the file didn't pop up (as it should) either. I had to go to my computer taskbar to select it.

The ":1" probably indicates that you have more than
one window displaying the same file.

    Try this:

    From the Excel Main Menu
    ....select <window>
.....Do you see a list something like:
    1_MyFile.xls:1
    2_MyFile.xls:2

If yes....Just CLOSE one of the windows by clicking the [X] in the upper right.
As soon as you only have one window left for that file,
the appended window numbers will disappear.

    Does that help?

Thanks Ron. But I checked, there was only Myfile.xls:1 shown in the Window menu, and I knew that I opened it once only. My colleague tried in his computer, same :1 problem!
Ah, another strange thing is that even though I did close this ':1' file and checked to make sure it's not in my computer at all, it still said the file was used (by me) when my colleague tried to open it from his computer. I had to go back to my machine and close the whole excel application (where the other xls files were opened). Strange!

    Here you go....

    From the Excel Main Menu:
    <window><UNHIDE>
    ....Select your file
    ....Click [OK]

    That's it, isn't it?

omg, that's IT! Thanks so so much Ron. I'm not sure how the :2 was hidden, it's been a pain for more than 2 mths. I can sleep well at night now
