I have Excell Sheet with following values in a column
21-1 Total
21-2 Total
1-21 Total
2-21 Total
When I remove word 'Total' from this using Find/Replace, the remaining number gets automatically changed to Date format Eg. 21-Jan, 21-Feb etc. Can anyone help me how to prevent this? I want to get ride of 'total' without cell format getting changed from 'Text' to 'Date' automatically.

Before editing, right-click on the cells in question and click format cells. Change the format to "Text".

Thanks for response, but the solution is not working. The format is already 'Text' type.
Oops. I realise I didn't use replace, I just edited the cells.
Next idea - and I have tested this - set up a second column and use the LEFT function. e.g.You will need to copy this down the page for all values and if you want to delete the original use copy/paste values to convert the formulae to values.
