Thread: Formula Problem

Hi,

Can somebody help with a formula for a spreadsheet I am trying to produce.

Speadsheet is roughly set up like this:

ABCDEF

1 a3 c2
2 a2 b3
3 b6 a7
4 b8 a1
5 a9 c6


I need a formula which will look down the rows in columns A & C and add together all the numbers which appear next to the letter "a".

Look at the attached sample. it's a simple formula. You can adjust ranges as you wish.
Don't forget to confirm the formula with ctrl+Shift+Enter.
