Linking Specific Spreadsheets to Word Document

I am preparing a report in Word that references data in several worksheets throughout a workbook. The tables in Excel are too big to easily display in word by simple copy and paste. That would require changing page layout to landsacpe everywhere a table shows up and even then the table can exceed the length of the page. Is there a way to set a hyperlink or a bookmark in word that will automatically open the workbook to the specified worksheet or range of cells?

    Does this work for you?
Select and copy the cells that you want to paste.
Paste Special >Paste as Link>MS Excel Object.

This will paste only the cells that you want to view and will update this table when you update your excel file.

Linking Data from Excel to Word

Thanks, I had never seen that before. I don't know if it will work since I am trying to view data that is wider than the page. But I just tried it and there appears to be a variety of options within Paste as Link. Do you have a recommendation?

    ChemistB,

I too am a chemist and the data I am trying to report is analytical results on a very interesting and topical project. More on that later. But I just played with the different options in the path you suggest and one check box uses an icon option. If you use that an icon is dropped into your word doc. and clicking on it opens the Excel SS and lets you scroll through it. I need to examine it more but that may be a good solution. Thanks.

Not sure what is possible for you. You could paste special in two parts (eg. cols A-F and then G-M) or once it is pasted in, you can grab the edges of the table just as you would with a picture and bring it into range (if it's still legible).

Thanks that seems to work if you paste special as a picture and if you are not referencing so many columns and rows that the data become illegible. I think using the icon feature is slightly more universal since it allows you to look around inside the entire sheet. There may be some security issues though too.
