    Question Dependant List

Hi, I don't know what function to use.

I have a list of departments. Some of the departments have sub-departments, others don't. I want to use a drop down list of departments, which I created. I also have the sub-department lists created.

I want it so that when a department that has a sub-department is chosen, the person entering the information is *forced* to choose the sub-department.

It would also be good if when a department that does not have a sub-department is chosen, then the person entering can't input anything in that cell.

I am not sure if this is data validation or combo boxes (which then I am not sure what to do there).

What would the best way be to do this.

    Thanks in advance for suggestions.

What is best a drop down list or a combo list?

Hi, Now I understand that I don't want a combo box, what I really is that when department has a sub department then the user is forced to choose which sub-department.

    Thanks.
