I know this is pretty basic for most of u, and I did try to search for something in previous forums but gave up after 3 pages so pls do help:
I would like to input data into cell B1, if & only IF "YES" is typed into cell A1.. else it should not allow any input into cell B1.
    Many thanks in advance.

    Hello Bitswit,

    I think use if =IF(A1="yes","True Value,False Value")
and then Locked your cell ,
and after that you have to protect your sheet,
    >>Tools>>Protection>>Protect>>

This might be helpful for you

Select B1 and go to Data|Validation

Select Custom from the Allow choices and enter formula: =A1="yes"..

    Uncheck the Ignore Blank checkbox.

    Click Ok...

    Test it.
