How Do I Format a Cell to Always Insert Certain Text?

Please Register to Remove these Ads

Call A1 looks like 1234.jpg, 5678.jpg, 9abc.jpg
I want to turn "," into "|", which I can do with a substitute formula, but I also need to insert a static URL in front of each set of images. so the result in B1 should look like:

http://staticurl/1234.jpg| http://staticurl/5678.jpg| http://staticurl/9abc.jpg

How can this be accomplished?

Thanks
Ocean

I can't open those links.

Can you upload an workbook with some imaginary examples how things should work?

Re: How Do I Format a Cell to Always Insert Certain Text?

the problem is, in A, I don't just have xyz.jpg. I have 3 or more image values in one cell separated by commas and I want the static text to be attached to the front of EACH of those images, not just the entire cell.

Attached is an example of what the starting value is and what I'd like the resulting cell to look like

try the following formula:

="http://staticurl/"&SUBSTITUTE(A1,",","| http://staticurl/")
