    Question Do i need vlookup?

    Hello there,

I think that I am being stupid. I have a database with 2 tables which are joined by a license number. One contains the addresses and the other details each of the licenses held at the address thus the address table has say 506 records and the number table has 570.

I have run a query to merge the tables in access and noticed that the query returned 562 results instead of 570 suggesting that there may be inaccuracies in the license numbers (possible mistakes - I didn't create the database).

I have imported the license numbers from each table into excel and wish to compare the two together to see if there is a license number in one table that doesn't relate to the other.

What is the best formula to use? I attempted a vlookup however that returns the matching row result not whther the license number can be found. I wish it to say whether cell A1 can be found in column B etc...

    Can someone please advise?

    Many thanks,

    Damien

    worked it out.
Was doing vlookup on an array of the whole data rather than just the column I wanted to look up. All working now!
