Greetings:
I'm using Excel 2007 and trying to create a 4 quadrant chart to show how distributors are doing based on two metrics--growth and a calculation we used called PPP. The idea is to have growth on the x axis and PPP on the Y axis. That way, we can spot which distributors have high growth but low PPP as an example. It sounds so easy but I can't figure it out! I drew up a quick sketch to show you what I'd like it to ultimately look like. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
The sketch is at http://www.chrisfarrugia.com/excel/chart.jpg
Hi ChrisF79
You need to plot the values -max(y) and -max(x) then set the colour/color to no-colour

Pike, the demonstration is similar to what I need to do but I still can't see how you did it since everything is locked on that sheet.
Pike's sheet is protected, but there is no password.
The attached has 2 series plotted as xy-scatter.
First series is your data. I used the xy chart labeler addin to link data labels to cells in order to get the Dist information.

The second series has 2 values plotted at bottom/left and top/right based on data.
This series can be formatted so it does not appear.
Andy:
Thanks so much! That worksheet you attached is absolutely perfect for what we're doing. As far as the labels go, did you manually create those with a text area or are they coming from the data table?
Also, if we created the national average, say 18% growth and 78 PPP, would it be possible to plot that as a baseline through the other points to see if they fall above or below the national average?
Thanks again. That's a pretty awesome chart!
As I said the data labels are linked to the cells.
Try selecting the data labels and then select a specific data label. In the formula bar you will see the sheet!cell reference. You can to this manually or use the addin suggested.
Datum lines can be added to the chart by using extra series. For straight lines you only need the start and finish x,y values.
