    Question Splitting a Time Period

    Hi There,
I need to work out the incriments of a standard time entry on an Excel Spreadsheet.
Specifically, if given at start and end time (assume 24 hour time), I need to work out how many hours of that time period were from 1 - 7, how many from 8 - 18, and 19 - 24.
I'm fairly sure that there must be a way to do this... do you know how?

    Re: Splitting a Time Period

I assume that you have start time in one cell and end time in another, e.g. start time like 08:00 in A2 and end time like 16:00 in B2.

Can the shifts go past midnight, e.g. 21:00 to 07:00?

    What's the maximum shift length?

    Re: Splitting a Time Period

That is correct. I have the start time (ie 9) in B2, and end time (ie 5) in B3. The shifts can not go past midnight, and there is no maximum shift length, ie 24hrs.
    Thanks!
