Use Insert symbol to put it in a cell, copy it, then paste it as #"°"
I am not following your instruction of "insert symbol". Also copy and paste does not work when creating a custom format. Pls help me again.
It works for me. As I said, I inserted the symbol, then copied just the symbol, opened up the custom format dialogue, and then typed #", then Ctrl+V, then ".
The following method is a lot easier...
1. Select the cells you wish to format
2. Right-click the cells and select "Format Cells"
3. Select the "Number" tab and the "Custom" option.
4. In the "Type" field type the following: 0.0, press & hold the ALT key then type:0176, release the ALT key and type:"F"
You should see this: 0.0°"F" in the Type field.
5. Enter a number in the cell to confirm that it is working.
Note: There are more than one temp symbol available, use the code for the one you like best. You can also opt for Celsius by replacing F with C.
