Hey, can someone take a look at F8 and G8 on the attached workbook and let me know why index/match doesn't differentiate between "," and "?" ?
It's returning the same answer for both.
Thanks!

Hi kitty,
the ? is a wildcard character that can be used with Match. If you want to find an actual question mark, you'll have to precede it with a tilde ~ as in
=IFERROR(IF(ISBLANK(G$7),"",INDEX(Sheet1!$F$1:$F$15,MATCH("~"&Sheet2!G$7,Sheet1!$E$1:$E$26,0))),"*")
So in row 8, starting in column F, you can use
=IFERROR(IF(ISBLANK(F$7),"",INDEX(Sheet1!$F$1:$F$15,MATCH("~"&Sheet2!F$7,Sheet1!$E$1:$E$26,0))),"*")
and copy across

Sweet,
Marked the thread as solved... What's the basis behind that syntax? I can't picture how that's being interpreted by Excel...
