    Fit to Cell Multi-Line

I have a cell that has one or two lines of text in it. I never want there to be more than two lines of text. How can I shrink the text automatically to prevent this from happening and fit within the cell?

    Many thanks in advance

Yes, but how do you stop it from going onto more than two lines and then shrinking the text when there is too much?

First, Excel only wraps text to another line under two conditions:
You have enabled wrap text in the cell properties, or . . .
The text is longer than the cell width and the adjacent cell on the right has content. Excel will wrap the text even if the wrapping property is not turned on.

Optionally, you can force a new line in a cell using Alt + Enter keys.

However, to limit how many lines are displayed, you should use Data Validation (Text Length option) to limit the amount of text allowed in a cell in conjunction with sizing the width of the cell per your requirements. Excel does not provide a means of automating the size of text - you would have to use VBA code.

    Do you know . . . ?
