Prevent Excel Files for Opening in Internet Explorer

I recently got a new PC with Windows 7. My company uses a web based system to create reports in .csv format. With my old PC running Windows XP if I ran a report the .csv would then open in excel. When I now try to create a report it opens in an IE window instead of excel. If I run the report in firefox it will open in excel. How can I make IE open the file in excel instead of in a seperate browser? I've tried searching for this issue on google and all of the solutions listed only work in Windows XP. Thanks in advance for any help

The first option doesn't apply to Windows 7. The tried the second option with adding keys to the registry but had no success
