attached is an Excel file that illustrates the problem.
Cell A1 contains text, but even after
1. activating wraping and
2. expanding the cell width to wider than the lenght of the text
I can only see pound signs.
Does anybody know how I can make the text visible?

The text is visible to me. Very odd you cannot read it.

do you see it in cell A1?
I can see it in the formula bar but not in cell A1.
a college of mine also can not see the text in Cell A1.
We are using Office Excel 2007.
hi,
Perhaps try:
- changing the cell format from "text" to "General" or,
- limiting the text in a single cell to 1024 characters, your example has 1507 characters (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211580) or
- "Add an Alt + Enter linefeed every 100 or so characters." (see http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-3981238.php or http://www.thecodecage.com/forumz/ex...ngle-cell.html).

Using Excel 2007, all I have to do is change cell A1's format to General and I can see the full text.
Cells in Excel 2003 and 2007 can hold over 32,000 characters. Excel 2003 will only show you 1024, and Excel 2007 will show you quite a bit more.
Hi Dschmitt
