    Trend (Line) Chart Formatting questions

    Hi,

Every week I have to update line charts, and input data labels in a certain format. The data is from another worksheet in the same workbook, which is also added each week by inserting columns or just by dragging calculations.

Some weeks the data labels appear automatically in the correct color and font (this is the most desirable for me =less work). Other weeks, the data labels are not there for the end points of the lines, and I have to put them in manually (Ctrl 1, click "data labels" tab and check the box next to "Value".)

I don't know how to set it so the data labels appear automatically. That would be great.

Also, sometimes the set font and color don't show, and I have to click the data point, ctrl 1, then set the font and color, and also sometimes the decimal points and number formats.

Is there any way of setting up these charts so the data points are automatically set?

    Thanks for any help!

    Alison

Re: Trend (Line) Chart Formatting questions

Ok, another question regarding this issue. If someone else is working on the same files, and saves it on a different machine, will this effect how excel 'remembers' things? This week was one of the weeks where I had to reformat everything...colors and fonts. Someone else did some edits and saved them out on their machine. Usually I'm the only one saving and editing. Wonder if this could be the issue?

Thanks. I'd still like to know if there is a way to set this up somewhere so that it will automatically show the latest added weekly data points that I have filled in.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
