Hi,
I have many worksheets of data with over thousands and thousands of records.
I am trying to create a macro which will put a bottom border under the entire row of the last duplicate name in column A (creating a visual separation of like records). I would also like the records to have a group number to indicate they are in the same group in column L.
Is there an easy way to do this? The manual process is mind numbing.
I've attached an excel doc to help clarify. I've done two of the example groups manually to show what it is I am trying to accomplish.
Thanks so much in advance. This will really save me eons of time.

Select all your data with A4 the active cell.
Home tab, Conditional Formatting, New Rule, Use a formula .... Paste =countif($A5:$A$26, $A4)=0 as the formula, press the Format button, and set the bottom border.

Hi shg,
Thanks for this! But is there a way to have the groups numbered in column L? so if the value in column A are the same they would have the same group number?
The original attached workbook has an example.
Thanks so much - I didn't think about the conditional formatting.
Hi - I figured it out!
Thanks,
Wace
