I am currently using the find function and it works well, however I am going to be passing this off to our tool room guys for keeping track of where tools are etc... and I don't want to have to rely on the casing being correct...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you talking about FIND worksheet function? If so you can use SEARCH as a non case-sensitive (or case-insensitive) alternative
Have a look at the SEARCH function.
