change row color after filling one cell

Hello Richard,

thank you for your help. In reply to your suggestion, I know how to change color manually, but I would rather do it automatically.

Is there any formula that does change a cell color in the way I described?

Like Richard suggested - use Conditional Formatting. That's what you use to automatically format based on whatever criteria you set up.

in excel 2003, how can I do the same?

I checked Conditional Formatting as suggested.

Now I know how to change the color of one cell, according to same cell condition, but not a series of cells.

in my example
if CellA1= "C"
I would like Cell A1:D1 with green color, not just cell A1.

The value "C" will only be in Cell A1.

Any further suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

ok, I made it :
1- select the row i need to color
2- go to Conditional formatting
3- formula is: =$A1="c"
4- clic on format, then select the green color pattern

I am sorry I don't have Excel 2003, and I am not an expert.
If it can be of any help just google "conditional formatting excel 2003".
