    Conditional Formatting Order

I have two different conditional formatting rules setup and they work, initially.
    For example:

Rule 1 = Format as Accounting
Rule 2 = Format as Percentage

    My problem is as follows:

When I enter a value that fits one rule, the condtion formats as it should. However, if I change that value to text that fits the other rule, the second condition doesnt change.
*FYI* I'm using a list box to determine how the value should be formatted.

    Re: Conditional Formatting Order

Is this what you are expecting?

I have a feeling something is missing.

This will not work in Excel pre-2007

    Re: Conditional Formatting Order

Marcol: Yes, thats it exactly. However, if you'll notice, once the conditions are changed (i.e. account to percentage, percentage to accounting) the operator stays in the field unless the cell is resized. Is there a way to make this happen automatically?

    I don't understand.
....the operator stays in the field unless the cell is resized.
What are you trying to do?

    Re: Conditional Formatting Order

Here is a snapshot of the workbook.

    There are two worksheets:
    1) Sheet 1: Contains the drop down list I'm trying to edit.
    2) Data: Used for the drop down list and the policy information.

I wrote in my problems and what I'd like to see as a result within the workbook.

    Re: Conditional Formatting Order

Try a helper column on Sheet 1, say Column K ( this can be hidden)

    In K3
Please Login or Register to view this content.
    Drag/Fill Down to K16

Then set up the conditional formatting as in the attached workbook.

    This will not work pre-2007

    Hope this helps
