I have the similar problem described in
http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...-subtotal.html
But suggested solution with helper column is not right solution to me. Since it assumes that subtotal is always on Country, but user may decide to replace Country by Region and then solution of course doesn't show correct values.
Isn't there other solution which works for all options? Since PT is great tool for user to display data in ways he likes, solution with helper column limits him.
Best would be option % of subtotal and you can define which subtotal level you want (lowest ... highest). If there is only one subtotal, lower = highest, if user change format to display Regions and then Countries, lowest = countries, highest = regions.
Hi and welcome to the board
To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.
If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.
Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
