    Data validation list, vlookup, update

HI, I have a time sheet in Excel, the employee name is a data validation list allowing the user to select the name of the employee they want to print a time sheet for. Beside the list is a field where the employee number goes. I set up a Vlookup which finds the employee number based on the name in the list. It works, but does not update when the user changes the name in the list. I don't know why I can't figure this out, but how can I make it so my vlookup recalculates when the value in the list changes.
    Greatly appreciate any help.
    Todd

Hi and welcome to the board

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
