All,
I want to put a permanent date & time stamp in cell A1 (date) and cell A2 (Time) when cell A3 is populated by any character which would be an inputters initials.
I'm thinking that it will be an "IF" statement but then I am getting confused about how I make it not update when the spreadsheet is opened at a later date and time.
Suggestions as ever gratefully appreciated.

To make the date/time stamp static you really need to use a worksheet change event in VBA like this:

So I now realise that I need to recognise input in cell C52 and to put the date and time in D52/E52 respectively so I presume that I just need to change the cell references in the code you provided? I tried it but it doesn't seem to work? am I doing something daft?

This is slightly lengthier process, but I think it's important to include a "check" to see if there is already a date/time stamp in columns D and E on that row and give the user the option to change them, or not. Also, this version will work even if you change more than one cell at a time.
