data layout for a stacked bar chart

I am trying to create a simple stacked bar chart in Excel 2010 but there must be a problem with the way my spreadsheet is set up, because it results in individual bars rather than 1 stacked bar. I have a column for reason and a column for count.

    reason count

    picking error 4
    short shipped 3
    over shipped 2
    packaging 2
    wrong customer 1
    wrong carrier 1

(I would sell my soul to have the chart wizard back...)

    Thanks in advance,

    Leah

to have a stacked bar you need more than one set of values for each of your reasons

Can you attach a really simple spreadsheet with a couple lines of data and the resulting chart? I'm just not understanding what you mean. I used to do these all the time in Excel 2003 and never had this problem.

    Thanks,

    Leah

You need to switch row/column data so it plots each point as a series rather than all points as 1 series.
