Custom Views Not Remembering column width - Excel 2010

Is there anything I could be doing wrong

This is what the MS web site says on the subject

You can use a custom view to save specific display settings (such as column widths, row heights, hidden rows and columns, cell selections, filter settings, and window settings)

And it would seem to me pretty obvious that people would want to be able to save column width

Is there anything that I might be doing wrong that has caused a clash

It remembers - filter settings - hidden columns - without problems

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook, the workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

If needed supply a before and after sheet in the workbook so the person helping you can see what you are trying to achieve.

Doing this will ensure you get the result you need!
    Hope that helps.

Well I could do that but I thought the problem was quite simple

If I save a custom view and then alter a column width - I feel that if I then call up the saved custom view it should also set the altered column width back to what is was at the time of being saved.

I can get hidden columns and filters saved and reapplied on the view being called up

    But not the column widths

    ??

If yoou save a View then the column settings remain, if you alter those settings when the view is displayed then you can't return to the original settings

So despite what the help on the MS says it does not save column width information at all at part of the saved view

This just seems bizarre to me

There must be some reason that this saved view feature has been designed in this way - I would love to know why
